MEET SHERROD
Sherrod is a Chicago based professional building at the intersection of access, capital, and community. His work spans venture capital, youth economic mobility, and civic leadership, all oriented around the same question. Who gets left out of the rooms where wealth is built, and how do you build the infrastructure to let them in.
He holds a BS in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill, with minors in Entrepreneurship and Education. He started his career at BCG, where he served as the primary strategist on a $10M state entrepreneurial development initiative. He later completed the Chicago:Blend VC Fellowship, where he built the Community Matrix, a proprietary framework for evaluating community-driven ventures, and presented "Making the Right Friends," a thesis on why community is becoming venture's next investable category.
Today he's co-founder and Executive Director of Black Men in Venture, where he is building a tracked pipeline and national directory of Black founders and investors. He also serves as PPD Chair for the Chicago Urban League MetroBoard and sits on the NULYP national board. At 16 he founded Mission: Scholarship, which has since helped more than 500 students access over $4M in scholarships.
